Paul Keating – funny bloke!

Well, besides that, a great PM.

Keating has often lambasted his successor John Howard, once describing him as a “desiccated coconut” who was “araldited to the front bench”, as well as stating “Howard … is an old antediluvian 19th Century person who wanted to stomp forever … on ordinary people’s rights to organise themselves at work … he’s a pre-Copernican obscurantist“.[15] He has also stated that Howard’s deputy Treasurer Peter Costello was “all tip and no iceberg” in reference to a pact made by Howard to hand the prime-ministership to Costello after two terms.[16] His criticisms of the Howard Government have included accusing Howard of dishonesty when taking the country to the Iraq War [16].

Bob for PM. Seriously. Read all of this article: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,22064054-7583,00.html

DESPITE a decade of scepticism by the Coalition Government, the Australian public has become more aware of, and concerned by, the growing scientific evidence of climate change. Until this year, a sceptical John Howard and his ministers had assiduously ignored the advice coming from the 2000 scientists who make up the International Panel on Climate Change. That scepticism was encapsulated in the ABC’s The Great Global Warming Swindle last night.

I found the narrative of Swindle to be compelling and half its conclusion acceptable, for it agreed the Earth is indeed warming. But I disagree with its denial of any human responsibility or need to change direction. That was the false and dangerous message from Swindle.

he incomplete science and convenient falsehoods the producers rely on have smoothed the past decade of inaction for the Prime Minister, his advisers and the big coal-producing companies. H
